Now they have "Toys" for grown-ups too.
You're taking this all far too personally.
Didn't think iPad had uses as an adult toy and they sold those at Toys r us :D
Personally? Could not care less either way.

Yesterday, Microsoft inadvertently released the pricing of its upcoming OS called Vista on their Canadian website. The prices were picked up by the NeoWin blog (http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=34770) and are also neatly layed out at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_vista#Editions).
Vista Home Premium will retail for $239, with upgrades available for $159. Additional licenses will be available for discounts as well. Vista Home Premium edition has evolved from XP Professional, Media Center, and Tablet product lines, and probably is also the edition which can most closely be compared to Mac OS X.
Many comparisons have been made between Vista and Mac OS X, and with many expecting Apple to continue its pricing tradition of $129 for Leopard (Mac OS 10.5), further comparisons can be made on price as well.
All prices in USD

An electric pylon in the woods near where I live.
I was considering posting this in the weekly photo contest thread as the current theme is surrealism, but I decided to stick with my old favourite, photo of the day.
I really like this. All of the lines seem to point to the centre which adds a good dynamic and the slight warping in the pylon is just perfect.
As for mine, it's part of a personal project that I've been messing around with for a little while. There are a couple other lighting styles and colours in the Flickr set. I'm not quite sure how I want to do the final image but I'm thinking maybe a triptych of different coloured lights might work well.

Surely Apple can't combine everything into something like http://www.macnn.com/blogs/?p=98.
Or can they?
I normally don't pay attention to Apple patent applications, but this one's a doozie!
Everything from 100% full screen to virtual keys, to selecting different modalities depending on orientation(!), to sensitivity to force of touch, to squeezing, to miniDVD drive, to ....
WOW!
<edit:>
Or maybe it's really the iTablet? Larger form factor than an iPod? They talk about various operating systems. Maybe it'll be OS X?

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.
As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others. Although we don't need religion to teach people morals, we need some agreed upon code of conduct.
You might say that the laws of a country serve that purpose, but they don't. They are simply rules everyone must follow and any despotic ruler can set awful laws that can hurt people. Therefore, the code of conduct has to be separate from the law.
If atheism has any future, its needs some type of unified, agreed upon code.
The idea that religion is the only thing that keeps kids from growing up into terrible people is a bit outdated, there are large countries in the Western World were religion has almost no influence and these places are not a pool of hate.

I know. It's insane... Hopefully with iOS 5 we will get some sort of patch system, like on OS X. Makes sense, really.

Where does it say 10 days later?
The level "Long Night of Solace" takes place on August 13, 2552. When you arrive, on foot, in New Alexandria for the level "Exodus", the date is August 23, 2552. It shows you the date each level takes place during all the cutscenes. The game doesn't take place over the course of 3 days or anything. From the first level through the end, over a month passes (July 24 to August 30).
Like I said that was my opinion. The story is rubbish.
That is fine. I'm not telling you what your opinion should be. I'm just saying, I found the story to be quite good, and all of the levels seemed very logical in their order and importance. The fact that you missed all the dates in all the cutscenes might explain why you found them to be "random" in their occurrence. The story was VERY far from rubbish, in my opinion.

hmm... but shouldn't they wait until 802.11n becomes more than just a draft of a format?
Other products, including a few from Apple, are using draft-n hardware already.
Maybe they won't be 100% compliant, but unless something earth shattering happens before 802.11n is finalized, I'd expect that many draft-n products could be made compatible with equipment using the the final standard, with little more than a firmware change.
And wasn't 802.11g still in the draft stage when it was introduced in the AirPort Extreme? (Extreme was introduced on January 7, but 802.11g was not ratified until June 2003.)

You can save a little money by buying the box set on CD from Amazon, but then your music is in that old-fashioned "hard-copy" format so you have to rip the music to iTunes! :)
Amazon also sells the mono collection, which I've been contemplating but haven't yet purchased.

That's not quite it. People were annoyed at the fact that the event was so hyped, not that it was somehow a "bad" thing.
It wasn't over hyped by Apple, they only stuck a teaser on their homepage for 24 hours.

Speak for yourself. Us with 3GSs will jump ship, Esp with all the awesome stuff google is doing. Apple needs to get on the game and release updates more often, not the opposite. That's a horrible idea! I mean... Unlike the other manufacturers, apple only makes ONE type of new phone a year. One.
Something tells me that one still using a 3GS isn't likely a must have "latest and greatest" kind of consumer. I had a 3GS which I bought on Day One. ATT let nearly everyone upgrade early to the 4 so I did. It was a no brainer. Why you stuck it out w/ the 3GS I can't say but to be bitching and moaning Apple doesn't upgrade fast enough like you are is silly. If you only upgrade every 3 years what difference would more frequent upgrades possibly make in your life? I think you protesteth too much.

It's only 20 more now than a same-spec white one. Cheaper than before I think.
I was just about to post this. The UK store appears down for me at the moment. This is based on the edu price (the UK edu store is up for me).
I'm teetering the edge of buying the black one. If that price was for a 1x1GB memory config I'd be a lot more tempted.
I think I can wait until the MBP 13.3 that will be announced in January (alongside the touchscreen ipod). :D

Ever since the iPhone came out Apple has been trying to get Adobe to write a more streamlined mobile flash player. one that:
1) won't crash and possibly make the phone reboot
2) won't drain the battery too much
3) won't tax the processor so much that it creates a heat problem
4) is secure enough to keep malicious code from running on your phone.
For whatever reason Adobe has been unable or unwilling to do this. So, Yes Apple has created restrictions, but very necessary ones. Anything less would be bad for the end user and for Apple's reputation.

On a full sized computer? That's horrible. Adobe has to get their act together and make flash more efficient before they can be allowed on the iphone.
Well, yes, on a full-size C2D iMac.
But, did you notice the part where on a similar, C2D AOPEN Mini, running Windows 7, IE8 runs the same Flash movie at 0%-1%, Chrome and Firefox at 4%, but Safari goes to almost 30%.
I'd say it's Apple that has the problem, and not Adobe.
Flash works just fine, and it's useful and necessary to the vast majority of users. Adobe seems to be doing a very good job with 10, and from what I've seen, it runs just fine on mobiles presumably less powerful than the iPhone.
The way I see it, if there is a pi$$ing match between Apple and Adobe, and Adobe takes its ball (Creative Suite) and walks away from Apple, the Mac OS will die, for all practical purposes.
Anyway, the iPhone must have Flash, if it is to remain competitive, and Apple really needs to dedicate some resources, and make sure Flash (and Java) run better on OS X.

It kind of hammers the nail with regards to LTE on an iPhone this year doesn't it though?

For those that are unfamiliar with Wal-Marts business practices I recommend you watch Frontline's Is Wal-Mart Good For America? (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/walmart/)
It's a great documentary. You can watch it online for free using RealPlayer.
there is also another one: the high cost of wal mart.
