Cost aside for the moment, it's Microsoft's decision to sell such a bewildering number of versions that I find so remarkable.
I agree, though this (if true) makes that less of a real issue.
The three retail editions (Home Basic, Home Premium, and Ultimate) of Windows Vista will ship on the same DVD. The features of the Home Premium and Ultimate editions may be "unlocked" at any time by purchasing a one-time upgrade license through a Control Panel tool called Windows Anytime Upgrade. The Business edition will also be upgradable to Ultimate. Such licenses will be sold by Microsoft's partners and OEMs, but not directly by Microsoft.
This is a change from XP where there was no good way to go "pro" if you already had "Home" installed, even though they had promised such a path during the beta.

"Jesus the Son of God" derives his very legitimacy through the alleged fulfilling of Old Testament prophecies. For a Christian to "avoid reading the old testament" is surely to deny his paternity.
Excellent point Skunk and I agree completely. Believers should make it priority to read and understand all of God's word, but unfortunately, like anything in life, sometimes we avoid what we find difficult , what we don't understand, or what we don't enjoy.
The sad fact is that many people who profess to be followers of Jesus don't spend the amount of time in the Bible that they should. It's not just an old vs. new testament thing it's a reading and studying the Bible at all thing. I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know as we have discussed it before in other threads. Christians who don't understand or know their faith well sometimes do more harm than good by spreading misinformation. If they would actually deepen their relationship with God through consistent time in his word then they would be a better representation of the truth the scriptures lay out.
However, I should point out that faith is a growing process. The goal is that people will mature in their faith over time as they grow in knowledge of and relationship with the Lord. I am not discouraged by new believers who are just starting out on in their walk with Christ. It's the long time believers who have neglected God's word or chosen to adhere to tradition over revealed truth that frustrate me.

Yes, that and the swapping of the Scorpion for a Wraith on Hemorrhage is great. I'm most excited about Rocket Race coming back. I played that gametype the most in Halo 3, so I'm hoping it remains as fun in Reach.
Sometimes I have as much fun taking screenshots as I do just playing the damn game.

And here is a pretty awesome film clip I made. I was trying to bring the Falcon to help my team finish off a round of Invasion, when someone on the other team tried to intercept me in a Banshee. I couldn't escape, so I decided to just, shall we say, trade seats with him... in mid air. Not only did I accomplish it, but we were over the water when I kicked him out, so he died in the process. :D

Samsun SyncMaster 2494HS on the right, now connected to my MBP that is over on the left of the desk, using a standard PC keyboard and mouse with the MBP at the moment.
The little black keyboard is a USB with trackball hooked up to the Win7 machine.
So far this is an experiment to use my MBP as my primary machine rather than just a laptop, so far so good, have sorted most things out I think.
I will eventually get rid of the Dell and but the MBP on the stand and have the Win7 machine hooked up to the VGA input on the Samsung monitor
Also ignore the dust :)

yes, so girls will use their own earbuds to jack into your iPod.
I don't see ourselves in 10 years still being limited by wired headphones and such. Maybe it'll be easier than the Zune but the idea of beaming a song for somebody else to download/hear is pretty cool to me.

Now I'm two updates behind on my iPhone, because I'm still waiting for the 4.3 Jailbreak. Oh well. Nothing too important in this update. I also won't be updating my iPad, because the jailbreak for 4.3 hasn't been released yet either.

Frankly I don't know if Bluetooth would solve the wire problem. But your point is well taken a wireless drive would have its own advantages. Something would be needed of course as I'm not dismissing the need for an optical drive from time to time. My big problem with optical hardware is that it increases weight and decreases reliability.
One obvious answer would be a mini Wifi server of one or more CDROM's. That sort of arrangement would certainly have the bandwidth needed. In either case you are making use of radio technology so that in and of itself is a power issue. On the other hand if the drive isn't in the laptop it can never be a power burden.
In any event I still believe that Apple would be better off putting Compact Flash or other memory device slots in its machines. They are already a better choice than CDROM's for many uses and of special interest to photographers and other professionals. The goal should be reliable low power operation.

Thanks for the note. I have been a bit disappointed by this random crash syndrome...Indeed it would be shameful not to solve this issue with this upgrade. I have been waiting to buy a MB since June!

Do you think that was Apple's decision to hold off on MMS, or AT&T pressuring them to hold off because they were afraid it would bring their network even more to its knees? From what I've read, it sounded like MMS was already in the iPhoneOS, just disabled. I don't know for sure though, anyone else wanna chime in on this?

But, did you notice the part where on a similar, C2D AOPEN Mini, running Windows 7, IE8 runs the same Flash movie at 0%-1%, Chrome and Firefox at 4%, but Safari goes to almost 30%.
I'd say it's Apple that has the problem, and not Adobe.
Flash works just fine, and it's useful and necessary to the vast majority of users. Adobe seems to be doing a very good job with 10, and from what I've seen, it runs just fine on mobiles presumably less powerful than the iPhone.
The way I see it, if there is a pi$$ing match between Apple and Adobe, and Adobe takes its ball (Creative Suite) and walks away from Apple, the Mac OS will die, for all practical purposes.
Anyway, the iPhone must have Flash, if it is to remain competitive, and Apple really needs to dedicate some resources, and make sure Flash (and Java) run better on OS X.

Who cares about Flash? It's a bloated, poorly written POS and i'd rather not have it. EVER. Hell, i turn it off on my Mac with ClickToFlash and just use H.264 unless Flash is the ONLY option. I wish Flash would just hurry up and die!

The type of people who ignore COGS, have no understanding of the economics of consumer electronics manufacturing and marketing, and disregard the basic laws of Newtonian physics. Basically, people who live in an effing dreamworld based on an totally domestic American worldview largely based on sci-fi movies and pop culture, with no real world experience as a contributor to a global economy.
It sounds like you are describing a large percentage of Apple users.

About a year ago, my PowerBook G4 12" had a battery recall. Now I go to the website to check my replacement battery, and it appears to fall into the range of the recall again. However, I tried entering my information in the website and the form rejected the battery serial number even though I double-checked that it was within the range.
Now the website appears to be down (cannot connect, no timeout or anything).

I always wonder what people do to their Windows 7 installs to make them crash.
On my desktop: I've put my windows 7 install through a lot but had to reinstall it around two months ago when my tweaking of WMP went awry. No biggie, boots up REALLY quickly thanks to 2 SSDs in RAID0. Nothing strange to report... also uses an ASUS motherboard, which has.. been through a lot to say the least. All of it was my own doing (overclocking-related...), but it hangs in there.
My laptop: ASUS U43J, revision X. Best laptop I've ever owned. 10 hour battery life (with wifi on), NVidia 310m, Optimus technology, 4 GB ram, windows 7 64 bit. Absolutely a wonderful experience.
I wonder if Apple would ever consider using ASUS motherboards.
