And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!
Why?
This is a Developers Conference where they are there to get hands on and see the New software Platforms Apple is adopting so they enhance the applications for the Developers Apps (where it be for the IOS market or Mac Market)
:apple: for life, Google, MS, HTC, Motorola, Sumsung, start your photocopiers on June 6 lol

Your experience is clearly not representative. My family and I have had 9 Macs, and no hardware problems ever. And large surveys, including those by PC Magazine and Consumer Reports, have shown that Apple desktops require significantly fewer repairs than any other brand out there.
Either you are trolling, or you are the most unlucky Mac user I have ever heard of...
Maybe your experience is not representative? Hmm?
My MacBook has had the RSS issue, as well as the mushy crap trackpad button.
My 1st gen iPod had the battery issue.
My girlfriend's iBook (which I had bought for her) had the "infamous" logic board issue - which because it manifested itself right after the extended warranty period, bricked her laptop. She's lucky she managed to get a hand-me down laptop replacement from work.
My friend's MacBook (bought a month ago) also had the RSS issue, which he had sent in for repair, and which seems to have been fixed.
Another friend has had to replace her 5G video ipod TWICE; she's on her third.
So maybe me and my friends are unlucky too, eh?

From the report:
Do MR gods work full time for the site? Or do you folks have normal 9-5's elsewhere...just curious :)
Oh, and Im glad Apple's growth is positive (so I cant be accused of non-topical posts) :p

i just got my macbook back yesterday after waiting for over a month for them to replace the heatsink
Is this all the service they offered you? I contacted Apple when the RSS started to become a problem and was told that I could go to a certified Apple repair centre of choice.
I phoned one up who had already dealt with a former TIBook of mine and they said they would order the heatsink and get back to me when it arrives. My MacBook then got a date with the repair man the next day and the morning after I could go and collect it (new screw not included).
What I do recommend to everyone, is that they create a guest account WITH admin rights before they hand in the computer, so that the guys can play around with sleep settings and have a look at the system log.

Hmmm, so I wonder what will the pricing be for those that don't jump to 5.5? Will 5 to 6 be priced the same as 5.5 to 6? What will be cheaper?
I looked at going from Master Collection CS 4 to CS 5.5, especially as I have a spare Mac license that I'd rather upgrade... that cost is $949.
O U C H.
It's too early to say what CS5->CS6 will be; it could be the same $550 or it could be $950.
Future upgrades might just be the Web Premium package and sticking with the standard CS5 releases for the non-essential apps.
But, as they sell less, they'll just raise the prices again. As if that will magically increase market share in return...

The iPhone 4's 5 mp camera has superior quality against its competitors 8mp. The reason being is that the quality of the lens that is in the iPhone is higher than the opposing. I hope to see crystal clear hdr photos and 1080p 30fps video. 1080p on the next iPad would rock!

Some of you should consider getting a smug-ectomy - this looks like a proof of concept more than anything else. Depending on exactly where the point of vulnerability is (which is not totally clear, perhaps intentionally) down the road this could have implications for built-in airport cards as well.
A couple years ago a security researcher discovered an Internet Explorer exploit that took advantage of a jpeg vulnerability. For this exploit to work, a user had to drag the image from the browser and onto their desktop, so many people blew it off - I mean, who would be stupid enough to do that? Well, after a bit more time other hackers (please don't bother "correcting" that) figured out how to take advantage of this exploit with some specially crafted script that could leverage the vulnerability without actual user interaction required.
I would agree that, at this moment, it's not a problem most Mac users need to worry about. But blowing it off completely is sophomoric at best.

Eh. He's replaceable. With any one of a massive raft of iPhone devs who would be more than eager to step in to replace him. Facebook doesn't really have much of a choice about developing for iPhone considering it's (iPhone) the rising star in the smartphone market, that people are clamoring for and waiting sometimes 8 weeks to buy one. If there is no Facebook app for iPhone, owners will go pounding on Facebook's door, not Apple's.
Still he's obviously entitled to do what he wants, career-wise. I just don't think it will be the big dramatic gesture he thinks it is. (What's his name?)

SZ--please explain. It seems that even a small increase in the mainstream would overshadow a large gain in niche markets. If Apple increases mainstream market share why do they need the niche markets?
I guess i was wrong with said niche markets.
what i mean is that as they expand their market share, they'll need to expand their product line, in order to entice customers toward their products. basically, if they have a product for every corner of their market, they'll likely increase their market share.

Last I checked this kind of anti-competitive action was illegal under monopoly laws...
you might be right...wasn't MS hit with something similar? It's not fair for a distributor to threaten the product producer (OMG..that is bad english, but you know what i mean).
i actually think it's funny b/c the studios don't like to be told what to do by anyone. if using Apple helps distribute their products, i highly doubt they'll listen to wal-mart or anyone for that matter.
it would be interesting to know whether or not WM has specific distribution deals with studios which has language indicating the studios can't distribute.
in the end, it just looks pathetically whiny by WM to cry about this. "OH..we can't sell online so nobody else is allowed...that's not fair." blah blah boo hoo.
losers.
cheers,

Personally, why would anyone care WHERE it's sold as long as it's available. I'm glad it's available at these 500 locations -- the more, the merrier. If Apple's not there, the competition will be. Anyone saying this is "a low move" is ignorant.

He-he... I'm testing "The Wall", too... :)
Did the "Gapless Determination" detect your The Wall album or did you, like me, have to set the Gapless Album tag yourself...?It detected on its own.
Looks really hot BUT where is EQ?, i live by this thing, now i can no longer find it. Whats up?It's listed under "view"

Great, That's the guy who "redesigned" iMovie and screwed it up.
He's also the guy who designed FCP in the first place!
I edit professionally and I am stoked by what I have seen so far. Anything that makes my life easier is a good thing. I'm glad it is cheaper, although nothing has been said about the other apps such as STP and Motion, or even Color. As others have said, just because amateurs can afford the software, it doesn't mean that they can use it well.

I have an almost 9 month old boy. He was using the iPad to play games by 6 months of age. The iPad *IS* one of his favorite toys and with it's education and entertainment potential, is certainly a good investment. I need to go because he's about to attack my keyboard. I'll give him the iPad to play with :)
A cardboard box, some crumbled up wrapping paper, plastic bottle and a can are better and much cheaper.

Somebody needs to clean their screen. Why'd you buy a Magic TrackPad? Do you like it? Is it really that much better than using a regular one or using a standard mouse?
I use one with my MacBook Pro, I just feel it is cleaner and easier to use than a mouse and more convenient than the MacBook's (when at a desk).

No way. 3D is way to "gimmicky" for Apple. Maybe someday, like when cars have no tires and just hover over the road. But not in the iPad 3. :p

are you people making this all this fuss over C2D MB's coming out? or is there more expected from the update....like the true ipod video? i dont see how a C2D MB could bring so much excitement....there's not THAT much difference in performance.
There might be a few more surprises with the MB as well, like there was with the MBP.

My first iPod was a first gen iPod touch. I've never owned a Classic, but I still feel partial to these things. I've played with my cousin's and I like how you can feel the hard drive spin when you skip a song. It makes the electronic feel much more personal and 'alive', although I always get the impression the hard drive will break any time.
If one were to buy a classic now would you be able to make a lot of money later on?

Interesting.....powerbooks and ibooks sold through this month but not the batteries in the Macbook or Macbook Pro....I'm thinking the newer batteries (for MBP and MB) are OK because they use Li-Poly cells instead of Li-Ion.
