Dannii Minogue - Queen of the Clubs
Dannii Minogue has earned the nickname Queen of the Clubs over the years. Don't know her? That's OK; no need to feel bad about it. We can't all know every hot rocking chick that exists, right? Right.
I bet some of you are going, "Hmm Minogue, Minogue... that name sounds familiar". Yeah that name very like sounds familiar because she is Kylie Minogue's baby sister. Dannii hails from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and has a career that is quite varied.
She's a singer, songwriter, fashion designer, model, television personality and occasional actress. She wears many hats as you can see. She started off in television in the Australian TV series Skyways. She became a cast member of the popular soap opera Home and Away in the latter part of the 80s.
Dannii shifted from television to music in the early 90s. Her career as a pop/dance star has had its highs and lows and to date it would be safe to say that her music career never really settled. Her albums have received rave reviews as well as some having very low sales. This was very likely due to the fact that her concentration was never truly centered on any one career. Additionally Dannii has confessed to constantly feeling pressured because of her older sister's success and always being compared to her.
While she sang, she was also involved in other projects which mainly included co-hosting television programs, presenting at award ceremonies as well as performing in theatres. It was not until 2007 when she became a talent judge on Australia's Got Talent, The X Factor (Series 4+) and Britain's Got Talent (Series 3+) that she seemed to have found her niche. She has said that based on her experience with these shows, she would like to focus on being a talent manager.
Some of her biggest hits include Who Do You Love Now? (her highest grossing hit to date), Love And Kisses, Success, Baby Love, All I Wanna Do, So Under Pressure, Rescue Me and Boogie Woogie. She is a staunch supporter of gay rights and is one of the very few artists who have performed multiple times at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. She frequently performed at the G-A-Y nightclub in London.
She is an avid supporter of AIDS awareness and prevention and was made an ambassador for the Terrence Higgins Trust, an organization that works to increase awareness of AIDS. To promote World AIDS Day in Australia and the UK in 2004, she posed nude - wrapped only in a red ribbon. She has long been a supporter of breast cancer research even more so now since her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2005.
Minogue has produced five studio albums so far in her career. These albums are Dannii -1990, Love And Kisses- 1991, Get Into You- 1993, Girl- 1997 and Neon Nights - 2003. The artist also has seven compilation albums.
These days she is fully committed to being a judge on The X Factor alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole.
She has made her rounds on the Sexy and Hot lists, has posed nude for the Australian edition of Playboy magazine (an edition which sold out in under four days and became one of the best-selling editions in Australia), in December 1991 the readers of UK Big Magazine voted her The World's Best Female Pop Star, in October 1991 UK Smash Hits readers voted her Best New Artist, and second only to Madonna as Most Fanciable Female and Best Female Singer In The World. Her first album Dannii was also nominated for Album Of The Year and in 2004 she was dubbed Most Beautiful Woman in Australia by Australian Vogue magazine. In 1990 she was voted Best New Star, Number 1 Woman Of The Year, Best New Artist and The World's Best New Female Popstar by UK Magazine.
There is no way on earth that I could have compiled this post without stating/repeating the obvious. Along with all these things, all of the accomplishments, etc, Dannii Monique is damn well hot!
